Lachman Vineyards and Granite Springs Winery is a fairly unique name because wineries typically name their vineyards after the winery itself.

Lachman has a more interesting story though, originally opened by Jon and Margaret Lachman in 1981 as a vineyard only, it wasn’t until the mid 1990′s that they purchased the Granite Springs Winery next door, which helped them increase production (they had already begun making their own wine at Lachman by this point).

These are some of the most approachable wines being made in the Sierra Foothills which makes them a perfect wine gift without losing the rustic character which has made the Zinfandel from the area famous. You might wonder why these wines are more approachable and while we wish we had a perfect answer, given that they are largely old vines, we think the vines mellow out a bit over time.
